The Minnesota Timberwolves have revelled in playing spoiler during this playoff series.
Entering the NBA Playoffs as the Western Conference six-seeds, the Minnesota Timberwolves pulled off an upset.
The Timberwolves eliminated the third-seed LA Lakers, and did not even require a Game 6 or 7 to do it.
Winning Game 5 in LA, the Timberwolves wrapped up a 4-1 series win with a 103-96 win, upsetting all the predictions.
Among all the predictions, none were more boisterous than ESPN host Shannon Sharpe’s viral ‘Lakers in five’ call.
The Timberwolves took a shot at this with their post in reaction to the win, writing: “IN FIVE THEY SAID.”
The team’s social media account had another shot at the Lakers too.
The T-Wolves posted a graphic with a caption that read: “hoLLLLyWood”, pointing to the Lakers’ four losses and their one win.
The Minnesota Timberwolves opponents for the Western Conference semi-finals are yet unclear.
They are due to face the winner of the Golden State Warriors and the Houston Rockets, a series that stands currently at 3-2.
The Warriors had a chance to win with a close out game, but were heavily defeated in Game 5 in Houston, and will get another chance to wrap the series up on home turf.
In the other semi-final, the Oklahoma City Thunder await the winners of the LA Clippers vs Denver Nuggets series.
