Moses Moody breaks down what he has been doing differently for Golden State Warriors, ‘best basketball that I’ve played’

One Golden State Warriors player has contributed heavily to their improvement recently, and it is because he changed his approach.

The Golden State Warriors are flying high since the trade deadline. Ever since they landed Jimmy Butler, the Warriors have looked like a completely different team.

They defeated the Charlotte Hornets last night, improving their record to 6-1 since acquiring Butler. They now sit 31-27 and are the eighth seed in the West.

Many, including Stephen A. Smith, have changed their tune about the Warriors. They now look like legitimate dark horses in the NBA title race.

But it hasn’t just been Butler and Stephen Curry who have been playing well. One young star has really come into his own.

Speaking after the Hornets game, Moses Moody talked about what was behind his recent uptick in form. Over the years, Moody has lost his spot on the team several times, for multiple reasons.

He noted that rather than getting demoralized when he got taken out of the rotation, he focused on getting better and earning his spot back.

“I think it has been a process. My NBA journey is like any other journey. Over the year, there were different reasons why I got out of the rotation.”

“Whatever it is, instead, I put my head down and try to figure out what that is and what I can do. Right now, it’s just a combination of things that I’ve been working on…”

“Part of that learning process was slowing down, doing a little bit less, and fitting in with the situation. I’ve been playing some of the best basketball that I’ve played.”

Moody has been playing quite well, as he averages 9.6 points, 2.3 rebounds, and 1.2 assists while playing a little under 20 minutes per game.

Moses Moody was one of the few players on the 2021-2022 Golden State Warriors team that didn’t get many reps during their NBA championship run.

Fast forward a few years later, as players like Jordan Poole, Andrew Wiggins, and Chris Paul have left the team, Moody has been given more opportunities.

The young shooting guard has been ousted by fellow youngster Brandin Podziemski, who gets more minutes than him despite being less experienced.

In the years to come, presumably, after Stephen Curry retires, Moody will have to elevate his game and start playing at a higher level. But he needs to earn his stripes for now.
