Nishikori makes up for his troubles on serving the previous game with some incredible pace and backhand skill in this one. Evans/Murray manage to respond though and defend a break point on 40-30 with a volley.

They take the advantage themselves and bring their serve home.

That’s more like it from Evans/Murray who have looked ultra sharp in this game while Nishikori has been struggling with his serve.

The GB duo achieve a triple break point at 0-40 and convert it first time as Evans changes direction and pounces.

Evans/Murray capitalise on some miscommunication between Daniel/Nishikori to get a game point at 15-40 and convert.

Evans finds some extra energy and scores brilliant points in this game and there was an excellent return from Murray in there as well. However, Daniel/Nishikori are able to match and never allow the Brits to settle.

An excellent touch from Daniel for a looping shot gets the advantage, but Evans levels again with a volley. It goes back and forth, but Daniel/Nishikori bring their serve home.

Good evening and thank you for re-joining our live text coverage of Olympic Tennis from Paris. After an exciting men’s Singles game earlier, we are switching to men’s doubles on court Suzanne Lenglen where it’s Kei Nishikori and Taro Daniel versus Daniel Evans and Andy Murray.

FUCSOVICS 1-2 NADAL

Nadal was made to work hard for it by Fucsovics who definitely stepped up his game over the course of the match. Nevertheless, Nadal edges it for the win at his beloved Roland Garros and is heading to a face-off with Novak Djokovic in the second round – what an encounter that is promising to be!

FUCSOVICS 1-1 NADAL (6-5)

Bruising forehand from Nadal and it earns him two match points. His first attempt is out, his second is a double fault and suddenly it’s 40-40. Relentless on a long rally, Nadal takes the advantage as Fucsovics’ long line is out and this time, Nadal converts from there with a whipping forehand.

Straight game now for Fucsovics – no drama on serve.

Super game from Nadal who keeps catching Fucsovics out against his direction of movement. He takes the game straight on 0-40.

Fucsovics forces Nadal deep in the backhand corner to take the lead and at 40-15, the game hasn’t gone into any rally. Fucsovics makes the game point with an incredible passing shot down the line from the defense.

Great game from both players, but it’s Fucsovics who achieves a chance to re-break on 40-30. Full commitment from Nadal and he defends with a strong stopp before indeed taking the advantage. Fucsovics responds though and the game goes back and forth. Eventually, Nadal brings his serve home.

Nadal’s backhand is lethal! He earns himself a double break point, curiously with his forehand down the long line though, and makes it with an error from Fucsovics on the long line.

For the first time this set, Nadal takes the lead.

Very aggressive and great pace from Fucsovics who earns himself a triple break point on 40-0 with a forehand cross ball. Nadal defends them all though with some strong base line play and a fantastic serve-and-volley. Things go back and forth, but Nadal takes his serve game.

Errors from Fucsovics give Nadal two break point on 15-40. Fucsovics fights both off, again with a drop shot, and makes it 40-40. Indeed, he takes the advantage and converts from there.

Tight start to the set with both players looking well locked in now. At 40-40, the game keeps going back and forth, but Fucsovics eventually brings his serve home.

Very intense game and it goes back and forth. At 40-40, Fucsovics takes the advantage for a third set point and takes it as Nadal hits the net.

Great start from Nadal, but Fucsovics steps up the aggression in response. An unbelievable long rally of 30 or so hits follows and eventually goes Nadal’s way, swinging the game back in the Spaniards favour. He gets the break point on 15-40 as Fucsovics hits the net.

Out from Fucsovics and Nadal gets the game on 15-40.

FUCSOVICS 0-1 NADAL (5-2)

Fucsovics is serving for the game on 40-0, but Nadal defends twice. He makes it at the third time of asking though as Nadal’s forehand shot is just out.

Overall, Fucsovics is looking solid when serving. Again, he does well to use shots from the back of the court to open up the opportunity for drop shots which are working brilliantly for him.

Nadal defends two break points and levels to 40-40. Nadal takes the advantage and converts – big game for him!

Fucsovics has three chances to bring his serve home at 40-0 – some lovely drop shots from him this game – but tremendous depth from Nadal sees him level to 40-40. Fucsovics takes the advantage though, again with a drop shot, and when Nadal hits the net, the game is the Hungarian’s.

Nadal responds with a straight game.

The Spaniard is trying everything to wrestle the momentum back in his direction. It’s all about who can land a big, heavy-weight blow first to dictate the rally and in this game it has been Nadal.

Fucsovics is in splendid form now and makes the game point on 40-30.

Interestingly, Nadal is looking super strong on his backhand now while Fucsovics is excellent on his forehand with brilliant timing.

The more aggressive approach from Fucsovics looks to be working for him, but Nadal is responding now. On 40-40, the game goes back and forth, but Fucsovics eventually gets the break of serve.

So far, so good for Nadal who is just looking a bit sharper than Fucsovics so far. The crowd at Philippe Chatrier is loving it!

Nadal serves for the match on 0-40 and makes it.

Again, he is forcing Fucsovics to play on, even behind, the base line and to run long distances before smashing the ball right into the corners where he can’t reach it.

Nadal defends one game point and levels to 40-40 before taking the advantage himself for a break point. He converts and it’s all going his way.

Fucsovics is starting to look stronger on the base line now though and has taken points off Nadal by playing right into the corners.

Bit of a tighter game again, but Nadal has the edge and converts on 30-40. Once more, Nadal looks splendid on the long rallies at the base line.

Fucsovics is coming a bit more into his own now and converts on 40-15. He has done well to force the match closer to the net this game which looks to be favouring him more than the base line duels Nadal is aiming to play.

Straight game for Nadal who is looking in splendid form with a lethal forehand. He forces Fucsovics to consistently race up and down the base line and outpaces him with his hits.
