Naji Marshall reaches milestone that only three other Dallas Mavericks players have ever done, Luka Doncic did it 41 times

Naji Marshall etches himself in Dallas Mavericks history following an impressive performance against the Phoenix Suns.

The Dallas Mavericks continue to plummet in the Western Conference standings as they were handed their fifth straight defeat of the season.

This time, it was the Phoenix Suns who took care of business against the crumbling Mavericks as they have dropped to a 32-33 record.

Despite the defeat, Naji Marshall had a memorable game in which he made franchise history for the Mavericks.

Marshall’s first season with the Mavericks continues to be a breakout year for the 27-year-old forward. The fifth-year NBA veteran had 34 points, 9 rebounds, and 10 assists in 41 minutes of playing time.

He became only the fourth Maverick with the aforementioned stat line. The other three players on the list are Dirk Nowitzki, Jason Kidd, and Luka Doncic.

However, there is one overperformer on this list, and it’s none other than Doncic. While Marshall, Nowitzki, and Kidd have reached this stat line just once in a Mavericks uniform, Luka has achieved this 41 times.

This goes to prove Doncic’s ability to impact the game in each and every way. It was another brutal reminder of how messed up it was to trade a young superstar who was yet to enter his prime.

With another defeat, the Mavs have officially fallen below the .500 mark this season. As things stand right now, they remain the 10th seed in the conference, but it feels like they’re on the cusp of dropping their spot.

Moreover, there seems to be zero hope of a comeback by the team. For starters, they barely have enough players to play a game on a nightly basis due to the crippling injury reports.

On top of that, the fanbase remains angry with general manager Nico Harrison for trading away Doncic. With that said, fans will hope for a comeback next season, possibly with Kevin Durant on the roster.

After all, Harrison was spotted lurking around during Durant’s pre-game warm-up vs the Mavs. Is it a sign that Nico is trying to strike a deal with the 2x NBA champion? Only time will tell.
