A rare defeat on home court for the Boston Celtic was inspired by Atlanta Hawks guard Dyson Daniels.
The Atlanta Hawks‘ NBA Cup campaign began with a victory at the Boston Celtics, by a single point.
Dyson Daniels scored a career-high 28 points, in addition to 3 rebounds and 7 assists. He had been averaging 13.8 points in his last 10 games.
He also contributed six steals, a key part of his game, in addition to the potent scoring he showed.
It was a breakout performance from the 2022 first round rookie, who was drafted by the New Orleans Pelicans, before being shipped to the Hawks as part of a three-team trade in summer 2024, which also involved the Lakers.
NBA fans had a lot to say after watching Dyson Daniels’ performance in TD Garden, with the 21-year-old Australian showcasing his potential.
One wrote: “If I was a Pelicans fan I would be pretty sick about gifting Dyson Daniels to the Hawks.”
Another added: “Pelicans gave up on Dyson Daniels way too early. Their asset management has been so terrible.”
“Will always have a soft spot for the New Orleans Pelicans for giving us Dyson Daniels thank you so much Pels,” a Hawks fan added.
A fourth wrote: “I just want to know who in the Pelicans organization approved the trade giving us Dyson Daniels and Larry Nance Jr. We straight up robbed them because they are paying dividends for the Hawks.”
“Cant believe the Pelicans traded Dyson Daniels,” another fan wrote.
“Dyson Daniels has gotta be the most improved player so far this season. It’s just unreal what he’s been doing for the Hawks,” added another.
“So Dyson can play “point guard” for the Hawks but couldn’t play “point guard” for the Pelicans?”, another asked.
The New Orleans Pelicans season is going from bad to worse, with star player Zion Williamson currently out with injury.
The 3-8 team announced on November 12 that Jose Alvarado is set to be face six weeks out with a hamstring injury.
Now seeing Dyson Daniels tear up TD Garden with the Hawks is an additional sickener, the last thing Pelicans fans would want to see.
