There is never a quiet night in the NBA and a little fighting spirit never goes amiss.
The Denver Nuggets have had a tough start to the season, failing to meet early expectations. They went into their game on Friday with a 2-2 record, and fell further back.
Stephen A. Smith had already backtracked from his prediction they would make the NBA Finals, with Russell Westbrook not yet making a positive impact on the team.
In their match-up against the Minnesota Timberwolves they lost again, defeated 119-116 and slipping to 2-3, after some late highlight-worthy drama.
The game’s big talking point came in the fourth quarter, where Christian Braun drove and Rudy Gobert and dunked over him.
It was a spectacular play, described by the NBA’s X account as a ‘detonation’.
Gobert was rattled by the play and shoved Braun after the play, leading to players on the teams needing to be separated.
The impressive play was even more notable because Gobert is the reigning NBA defensive player of the year.
NBA fans had a lot to say after seeing Braun’s highlight worthy dunk on Gobert, left in shock that the Timberwolves star let it happen.
“Gobert was embarrassed,” one fan wrote, with another adding: “Braun put him in the blender my goodness what a dunk.”
“Wemby would have stopped that,” another wrote, with a fourth adding: “Damn Rudy that’s all you got??”
A concerned fan wrote: “Everyone is not afraid of dunking in the defensive player of the year. This is not good.”
“Dunked on him, but lost the game,” one fan pointed out, with another arguing, “This is why Wolves made the run and won the game decisively.”
