The Los Angeles Lakers faced the Dallas Mavericks in their recent Western Conference battle of the 2024-25 NBA season.
With both Luka Doncic and Kyrie Irving out due to injuries, the Lakers were viewed as the favorites to register a dominant win.
Instead, the Purple and Gold suffered a blowout 118-97 defeat defeat at Dallas. As a result, the Lakers have fallen to the sixth seed in the West.
Despite the defeat, LeBron James had a solid game with 18 points, 10 rebounds, and 8 assists to his name. Speaking of which, LBJ got the crowd on its feet during the opening quarter of the matchup.
Yes, at 40 years old, the King pulled a crazy windmill dunk. But that’s not even the best part, he switched hands while in the air.
NBA fans lost their minds after seeing the impressive play from the LA Lakers superstar and crowned him the GOAT on X.
One fan wrote, “Bro that’s a slam dunk contest dunk. I never seen that before.” While another added, “That’s gotta be a Top 10 dunk of his career and that’s given 22 years of wild dunks lmao.”
A plethora of fans took a shot at Michael Jordan.

Other fans were simply shocked at James pulling off this dunk at 40 years old.

No doubt, it was arguably one of the greatest dunks of James’ 22-year NBA career. But that was one of the only silver linings in an otherwise poor game from the Lakers.
While the Lakers are still in the middle of the pack in the West standings, James can hardly be blamed for it.
In Year 22, James continues to shatter records. He recently surpassed Jordan for the most 30-point games in NBA history. Sure, it took him more than 450 games to get ahead of MJ, but that’s hardly a longevity stat.
Now, the 4x NBA champion is on the path to breaking another record. Yes, he is just 91 regular-season wins away from becoming the No. 1 all-time on that list as well.
Right now, Lakers legend Kareem Abdul-Jabbar holds that record. But considering that James is already 40 years old and the Lakers struggle to win games, it could take him two more seasons to surpass KAJ.
