NBA fans slam Anthony Edwards for trash talking Los Angeles Lakers forward, ‘get a ring first’

The Los Angeles Lakers are off to a flying start as they begin the new season with a solid win against Anthony Edwards and the Minnesota Timberwolves.

In a 110-103 win, Anthony Davis led the team from front. He truly dominated the matchup by adding 36 points, 16 rebounds, and 4 assists to the final score.

As for the Timberwolves, Edwards contributed 27 points, 6 rebounds, and 3 assists. Although Ant had a good game, he faced flak on social media for his in-game antics targeted towards Lakers forward Jarred Vanderbilt.

Vanderbilt was among three Lakers players who were sidelined for the season opener. However, Edwards directed his trash-talk only towards his former teammate, Vanderbilt.

“You’ve been hurt for 2 years _____,” Edwards said.

Considering Vanderbilt wasn’t even a part of the Lakers’ rotation vs. the Timberwolves, NBA fans were unhappy over Edwards’ unnecessary antics.

One fan said: “Get a ring first Anthony Edwards before you talk to a Laker.”

Another fan added: “Ant be doing too much talking sometimes smh.”

While a fan thinks Vanderbilt gave a solid comeback: “Vando shut that ____ up after that.”

However, there was a rare instance when a fan supported Ant as well.

He said: “The best player is also the best trash talker. The league is in good hands.”

Ultimately, it could have been friendly banter between the two players, but the general consensus was furious with Edwards’ trash-talk.

Right now, the Timberwolves superstar is still in the budding stages of his basketball career. He is currently playing the fifth season of his NBA career and remains one of the most electrifying young athletes in the league.

While many view him as the next face of the NBA, the 23-year-old star may surprise fans with an early retirement. Indeed, in a recent interview, Edwards revealed he could retire from the league in the next three or four years.

But the only driving factor behind it would be winning an NBA championship with the Timberwolves. Moreover, Edwards doesn’t plan to entirely get away from the sports industry. Instead, he would love to prove his worth in the NFL. Now, that would be a solid headline.
