NBA insider observed worrying body language from Stephen Curry in Game 2 shootaround, ‘Wouldn’t be shocked…’

An NBA insider observed something worrying from Steph Curry that will be a cause of concern for the Golden State Warriors.

Steph Curry suffered a hamstring injury in Game 1 of the Golden State Warriors‘ second round matchup against the Minnesota Timberwolves.

Although they managed to clinch Game 1, the team looked completely off their best and lost Game 2 by a 117-93 scoreline.

The team lacked the offensive genius of Curry as they shot poorly from the three-point line, making only nine of the 32 shots they took from beyond the arc.

Brian Windhorst shared his thoughts on what could have led to Curry’s injury and it has a link to the previous series against the Houston Rockets.

Reports suggest it is a Grade 1 hamstring injury and many have stated the player could be back before the end of the current series, although no confirmation has yet been made.

However, Athletic’s senior writer Sam Amick believes there is a possibility this could not be the case.

Curry was on the court at the shootaround for Game 2 and even spoke to the media before the game.

Amick stated that the four-time NBA champion sounded very conservative when speaking to the media.

He said: “Having been around him a fair amount, you can read his body language and hear his messaging.
“I don’t know, he sounded like a guy that I’ll be honest right now for me, I wouldn’t be shocked if he wasn’t in the series because he seemed incredibly conservative in terms of the way he sees the injury.”

While there is no official return date reported, this is the first hamstring injury of Curry’s career and the franchise will be cautious in managing his return.

The Warriors have lost four times in the playoffs without Curry in the lineup and in three of those occasions they have failed to score 100 points or more.

This is an indication of how reliant they are on his scoring and the impact he can create.

Without Curry, the Warriors lacked the firepower from the start in Game 2, as they went 0-10 down against the Timberwolves.

Steve Kerr stated the importance of Brandon Podziemski with Curry out, and while he scored 11 points, the young player was not able to do enough to help the Warriors.

Jimmy Butler tried to step up and lead the team from the front, but he failed to impact the game and ended with 17 points on 6-13 shooting from the field.

The series will now head to Chase Center and the Warriors will be hoping the crowd gives them the motivation needed to edge out a win.

Chris Finch’s men will try and utilize Curry’s absence from the team and do whatever they can to win the upcoming game because if the two-time MVP returns, the Warriors could turn things around.
