Nico Harrison ‘absorbing’ flak for Patrick Dumont, claims ESPN expert, ‘he will be fired’ prediction made

Nico Harrison is just the fall guy for Patrick Dumont’s decisions says one ESPN analyst and made a prediction for his future in the role.

Nico Harrison continues to alienate the Dallas Mavericks fanbase with his behavior. It’s bad enough that he traded away Luka Doncic to the Los Angeles Lakers.

But everything he has said or done since then has only further ticked off the fanbase. Harrison’s most recent tactic of a private press conference hasn’t gone down well in Dallas.

During the meeting, Harrison shed almost no insight on the decision to trade Doncic, repeatedly claiming that defense wins championships.

And after disrespecting both Dirk Nowitzki and Mark Cuban, Harrison has only continued to dig himself a deeper hole.

Two people who weighed in on this matter were the hosts of ESPN’s Pardon The Interruption, Michael Wilbon and Tony Kornheiser.

Wilbon made the point that Nico Harrison has been the frontman for this decision, and the Mavericks ownership were responsible.

Michael Wilbon: “What else is he supposed to say? ‘I regret the deal,’ two months after making it?

“Don’t tell me the new Dallas owner wasn’t front and center on this. I think Nico could just be absorbing a lot of slings and arrows for the owner.”

Tony Kornheiser: “I said the day it happened, he would be fired, and it would be quick – I think he will be fired.”

In the eyes of both the fans and upper management, it’s hard to see Nico Harrison’s job being safe. The ownership would not have expected the kind of pushback they have received from the Doncic trade.

And in an effort to appease the fans upset about this trade, they might choose to get rid of Nico as a ceremonial gesture.

But what if Harrison is able to earn their trust back? Kendrick Perkins believes that Harrison landing Kevin Durant would be enough to do so.

However, for as great as Kevin Durant is, he would just be a band-aid covering up the flesh wound Harrison gave the Mavericks fanbase with the Doncic trade.
