Jadon Sancho’s time at Manchester United appears to be drawing to a close, with the club prepared to part ways with the winger, according to Fabrizio Romano.
The 25-year-old is reportedly among a group of players United are willing to sell this summer in an effort to raise funds for new signings as part of a squad overhaul.
The English winger was sent on loan at Chelsea at the start of the season and despite the player contributing in their Conference League success, the Blues have decided not to sign him permanently this summer.
Chelsea and Sancho failed to reach an agreement on the wage package for the winger, ultimately deciding to pay United a penalty to send the winger back to Old Trafford.
Jadon Sancho is coming back from Chelsea
Despite flashes of quality during his time at Stamford Bridge, negotiations over a permanent move broke down due to disagreements over salary and overall financial terms. As a result, Sancho is set to return to Old Trafford at the end of June, but only temporarily.
Romano provided the update on his X account:
“Jadon Sancho, not expected to stay at Manchester United this summer.
“He’s included in list of players available for sale to generate funds and reinvest on different signings.
Sancho’s camp will assess options in the upcoming days/weeks.”
United, under their evolving football operations structure led by INEOS and Sir Jim Ratcliffe, are keen to reshape the squad this summer after a turbulent 2024-25 season in which they finished 15th in the Premier League and lost the Europa League final against Tottenham.
Sancho has no future at Man United
Sancho’s representatives are expected to explore fresh opportunities in the coming weeks which makes his Man United exit inevitable.
Sancho’s market value has taken a hit since his £73 million arrival in 2021, but his age and talent still make him a potentially attractive proposition for clubs seeking a creative wide player.
United captain Bruno Fernandes was also linked with a move away from the club with Saudi side Al Hilal interested in signing him but the Portuguese midfielder has decided to stay at Old Trafford to continue his impressive career with the Premier League side.
With Bryan Mbuemo showing his intention to join the Red Devils, more players, particularly in the attacking positions, could be offloaded this summer to make way for new signings.
