‘Once I left him…’ Stephen Curry helped Anthony Edwards improve his game, now it’s coming back to haunt the Warriors

Stephen Curry might regret providing Anthony Edwards with his mentorship at the Paris Olympics.

The Minnesota Timberwolves have now taken a commanding 3-1 lead over the Golden State Warriors. The Warriors are now on the brink of a second-round exit.

Stephen Curry’s injury in Game 1 has proven to be the kiss of death for them. While Jimmy Butler and Buddy Hield stepped up to get a win in Game 1, they haven’t been able to buy a win since.

Jonathan Kuminga has been playing really well in Curry’s absence, and the numbers prove that. But his 23-point performance off the bench wasn’t enough to get the win.

But it appears it isn’t just Stephen Curry‘s absence that is costing the Warriors. His presence at the 2024 Paris Olympics is proving to be a key factor in their struggles.

Speaking right after the Timberwolves’ Game 4 win, Anthony Edwards spoke to ESPN about his three-point shooting exploits.

Edwards credited Stephen Curry for working with him on his shooting at the 2024 Paris Olympics. Curry set an example for Edwards, and he followed it to become a better shooter.

“Let it fly. I work on it. I told Steph – I was working with him all summer. Big shoutout, big credit to him. He influenced me to be able to shoot the ball really well. So, I went back in the summer and started working on it once I left him, and I got better at it.”

Edwards led the NBA in 3-pointers made this season with 320. And in this series, he has sunk 14 threes while shooting 41.2% from beyond the arc.

Edwards also spoke in his post-game press conference about the feeling he gets when he sinks so many dagger shots in front of the Warriors fans to deflate them.

“It’s satisfaction. Just the best satisfaction ever.”

Anthony Edwards is showing that he is built for the moment and that he is not afraid to step up and deliver some big shots when needed.

With six 3-pointers tonight, Edwards once again silenced the Chase Center as he helped his team get yet another important win on the road.

Edwards is embracing the ‘Legend Killer’ moniker given to him by WWE Superstar Randy Orton. And by vanquishing Stephen Curry, while using what he taught him, Edwards is only cementing his own legacy.
