Patrick Beverley unimpressed with Quentin Grimes’ big performances for Philadelphia 76ers, ‘It’s easy to…’

Quentin Grimes has making a big splash since being traded to the Philadelphia 76ers.

The Philadelphia 76ers’ 2024-25 is effectively over, with both Joel Embiid was shut down as well as Paul George in the wake of a disappointing first campaign.

Since then Quentin Grimes has been making the most out of his opportunities as the star man for the team.

Acquired by Philly from the Dallas Mavericks, Grimes transformed from being a serviceable role player into a star, averaging 21.4 points with 5.5 boards and 3.8 assists.

And this has only amplified the criticism of many towards Mavs GM Nico Harrison, following the stunning Luka Doncic blockbuster deal.

After coming out hot in his first few games, Grimes has delivered career highs. After a major 44-point performance, he even followed it up with a career-high 46-point explosion against the Houston Rockets.

As the 76ers move on amid a roller-coaster season marred by tons of injuries and disappointment to fulfill title expectations, Grimes provides them with a much needed relief as one of their lone bright spots.

Grimes has been so good that NBA fans are going wild over his recent form wearing a Philadelphia uniform.

But despite this, former Sixers player Patrick Beverley isn’t buying in on the sudden hype that Grimes is flashing, expressing doubts if he can still pull it off under a winning situation.

“It’s easy to play well for a team that’s not going to make the playoffs,” the veteran guard said on his Pat Bev Podcast.

“OK, it feels good when there’s no pressure behind you.

“Quentin Grimes was just with the Dallas Mavericks,we ain’t heard from him?

“I love what he’s doing, I love that he’s putting points on the board, but can you do that on a winning team? That’s my challenge.”

With Embiid and George out for the rest of the season, Grimes is savoring the green light to go out for head coach Nick Nurse. And it appears that Philly didn’t make a mistake giving him a chance as he is thriving since landing at their side in February.

Whether Grimes sustains his impressive run with the 76ers is yet to be known as he is about to face an important offseason this year. He is set to become a free agent in which an NBA star urged Philly to re-sign and build around him.

It is great to see players put up big points, and whatever the future holds, we can only be happy that Grimes is enjoying the best basketball of his young career. It is up to him to sustain it, wherever he lands in 2025-26.
