Anthony Edwards has delivered another special postseason run with the Minnesota Timberwolves.
Last season, the three-time All-Star led the Minnesota Timberwolves to their first Conference Finals appearance since 2004.
A year later, he has done it again and even more comfortably as the T-Wolves await the result of the Game 7 between Denver Nuggets and OKC Thunder.
Anthony Edwards has averaged 26.5 PPG in the playoffs, alongside 8 rebounds and 5.9 assists.
He has also been a leader for the franchise and inspires his team with special performances.
This has led to him getting a lot of praise from former NBA players.
Paul Pierce is the latest to give Edwards his flowers for the recent performances and leadership with the T-Wolves.
Edwards had an injury in the series against the Warriors, however, he showed resilience in coming back from it and playing for the team.
All these reasons gave Pierce enough reason to rank him above LeBron James and Luka Doncic in the current NBA player ranking.
He said: “I’m taking Luka out and I’m putting Antman in. I don’t have no questions about his condition. I don’t have no questions about his defense. I don’t have no questions and we all know he can play with anybody offensively.
“I’d take him over ‘Bron right now. He’s a better defender than ‘Bron. He’s a better offensive player than LeBron right now.
“That puts him in my top five right now.”
The former champion also went on to state his top five, picking superstars from the Boston Celtics, Milwaukee Bucks, Denver Nuggets and Oklahoma City Thunder.
“My top five in today’s game, Joker, who is the best player. Giannis, Tatum, SGA, and of course Antman,” said the 2008 champion.”
Edwards is one of the best young stars in the league, who is leading the hopes of the Minnesota Timberwolves.
Two years in a row they have made the Conference Semis and this time around they will feel like it is their best shot at winning it all.
Edwards has already surpassed what T-Wolves great Kevin Garnett was able to do with the franchise by leading them to two trips to the Conference Finals.
At 23, Edwards knows what his strengths are and does not need special attention.
What makes him the perfect franchise player is his ability to get his teammates involved by heaping praise on them after every game.
Last year around, the Timberwolves had a tough test- Dallas Mavericks in the Conference Finals, but this time around they will fancy their chances because of how stacked their roster is.
Edwards is a great player, but there are other players like Julius Randle and Naz Reid, who are both key to the Timberwolves.
Although there are guys on the team who can deliver, what keeps them going is Edwards and they will need him to be on top of his game if they are to win their first championship.
