Kobe Bryant is a name that will go down in basketball history and anyone lucky enough to spend time with the great is full of praise for the legend.
Many former and current NBA players have told their Kobe stories over the years. Kyrie Irving explained how his advice helped him win an NBA title.
Bryant’s greatness was summed up perfectly by one NBA expert, he is spoken about highly for his impact on and off the court.
It is rare that players ever have any regret around Kobe, but that’s not the case for Philadelphia 76ers star Paul George.
George is a veteran of the NBA and has now entered his 14th season at the highest level, he has very few regrets in his career but he recently admitted to one big one.
The 76ers forward took to his podcast, ‘Podcast P with Paul George’, to explain one huge regret he had around the late, great Kobe.
George said: “I had a couple of opportunities to work out with Kobe, man I dropped the ball. I ain’t gonna lie I was nervous, hearing the stories, hearing how he operates, I ain’t gonna lie I was nervous.”
He continued to talk about one of his biggest career regrets.
He said: “I didn’t take up the offer but after losing him I was like man, that’s probably one of my biggest regrets.”
Despite not taking Kobe up on a training session George did manage to share the court with the Lakers legend on numerous occasions.
When George met Kobe on the court it usually ended one way, and it might not be how you’d expect.
The pair met five times on the court all coming in clashes between the Indiana Pacers and the LA Lakers.
Surprisingly George holds the edge on Kobe with a 4-1 record against the five-time NBA champion.
While the record is impressive the stats are pretty strong as well.
Player | Points | Rebounds | Assists | Steals | Blocks |
Kobe Bryant | 21.0 | 5.6 | 2.4 | 0.8 | 0.0 |
Paul George | 21.0 | 7.2 | 2.0 | 1.8 | 0.8 |
In defence of Kobe, much of the match-ups between the pair came in his later years on the court. There is no denying his legendary status.
