‘Poor Jakob’, NBA fans left in shock after Toronto Raptors guard dunks on teammate vs. Heat

Toronto Raptors’ Jakob Poeltl was on the wrong end of a great poster.

In the past few years, the NBA’s ratings have plummeted lower than anyone could have ever anticipated.

A key reason behind the downfall is the fact that most teams are losing uniqueness on the court. In fact, the most popular play in today’s league is to chuck a plethora of three-pointers when a player is open.

As a result, when a player attempts to dunk the ball at the rim, it becomes an instant talking point for the NBA community.

The Toronto Raptors recently faced off against the Miami Heat in the 2024-25 NBA season. After the final whistle, Jimmy Butler and Co. registered a solid 114-104 win over Toronto.

Speaking of the game, one high-octane moment took place during the third quarter when Raptors’ Ochai Agbaji dunked the ball after RJ Barrett’s missed layup.

Agbaji also caught a body on the poster, but it was of his own teammate, Jakob Poeltl.

While it’s always great to see posterizing dunks during games, Poeltl was caught off guard his getting dunked on by his own teammate. The video went viral and NBA fans had all sorts of reactions to it.

One fan wrote: “Shaqtin!”

Another added: “Hahaha that will be a great poster!

A fan showed sympathy for Poeltl: “Poor Jakob.”

One fan had a unique response: “I would have done the too small on him after that.”

“He didn’t even have to dunk it,” a fan added.

“Bam pushed him right into him, how is that not a flagrant actually,” a fan demanded.

While most fans were busy trolling Poeltl, a few fans did notice that it was Heat’s Bam Adebayo who pushed the Raptors center in his teammate’s path.

Even the refs missed the dangerous play by Adebayo as the game continued without any foul call.

After the 10-point defeat, the Raptors now have a 7-19 record in the season as they continue to struggle to win consistently.

As the 14th seed in the Eastern Conference, it might be time for the Raptors to pull the trigger on the season and focus on tanking for a lottery pick in the 2025 NBA Draft.

While Poeltl continues his brilliant form in a career year, it’s safe to say that the Raptors are by far one of the worst teams in the East right now.
