Former India National Cricket Team head coach Rahul Dravid has been appointed as the new head coach of the Rajasthan Royals (RR) in the Indian Premier League (IPL). The franchise confirmed the development through social media on Friday (6th September).
Rahul Dravid, under whom India National Cricket Team won the T20 World Cup 2024, signed the deal with the Rajasthan Royals in Bengaluru. His tenure with Team India ended after the tournament and the former India captain reportedly was approached by the franchise to take over the role in IPL.
Rajasthan Royals posted the picture of Rahul Dravid with CEO Jake Lush McCrum handing him the pink jersey. They posted the picture with the caption:
“Rahul Dravid, India’s legendary World Cup-winning coach, is set for a sensational return to Rajasthan Royals! The cricket icon was captured receiving his Pink jersey from the Royals Sports Group CEO Jake Lush McCrum. It is believed that the RR Admin was present too, capturing the deal being signed in Bangalore.”
On his appointment as the head coach of the Rajasthan Royals, Rahul Dravid said that after his stint with India, he feels it is the right time for him to take another challenge. He stated:
“After the World Cup, I feel it’s the ideal time for me to take on another challenge, and the Royals is the perfect place to do that.”
