Skip Bayless continued to question the legitimacy of LeBron James’ injury after news broke of an MCL strain.
LeBron James and the Los Angeles Lakers are bracing themselves for the offseason. They were surprisingly eliminated from the playoffs after a tough series with the Minnesota Timberwolves.
There are a few reasons why the Lakers got eliminated so early in the playoffs. But regardless of the reasons, their season has come to an unceremonious end.
LeBron James has some decisions to make about his future. So much so that James refused to help convince Luka Doncic to re-sign with the Lakers.
While James’ future might lie with the Mavericks, there have been a lot of criticisms about his play in the playoffs. And news of his MCL strain broke, one longtime skeptic couldn’t help but raise eyebrows.

Skip Bayless took to X to react to the news of LeBron James sustaining an MCL strain in Game 5 against the Minnesota Timberwolves.
He questioned the convenient timing of the news, believing that LeBron’s inner circle leaked this to make an excuse for his performance in the series loss.
“LeBron is funny. Nearly every time he flames out in the playoffs, he comes up with an excuse, usually leaked by Rich Paul.”
“This time: sprained MCL, off accidental collision. Is this to prove he didn’t flop, as many on X believed? We’ll never know for sure. No more games to miss.”
It’s hard to see where Bayless is coming from on this. The injury would serve as an excuse if it was sustained in Game 1. But given that LeBron got hurt late in Game 5, it can’t justify his performances in the first four games.

Aside from his injury woes, there are some concerns about LeBron James’ future. James seemingly hinted at retirement in the immediate aftermath of the elimination.
But that was probably him playing his cards close to the vest, or making a calculated move to ensure his bottom line is protected.
Paul Pierce believes the Lakers must move on from LeBron to usher in the Luka Doncic era. On the other hand, James Worthy pointed out some key dilemmas the Lakers must consider before re-signing James.
Whatever LeBron does, he has earned the right to choose for himself. There is no player who has dedicated himself to the sport of basketball more than LeBron, and he must do what is best for him.
