Spencer Reaves shares his thoughts on Austin Reaves and the LA Lakers’ 2025 NBA playoffs.
The Los Angeles Lakers finished the 2024-25 NBA season with a 50-32 record as they clinched the third seed in the Western Conference.
They will take on the Minnesota Timberwolves in the opening round of the postseason in their first season avoiding the Play-In tournament since 2020.
With that said, Austin Reaves‘ brother, Spencer Reaves, recently spoke to NBA Analysis Network and gave his honest opinion on the Purple and Gold’s upcoming playoff run.
While the dynamic duo of LeBron James and Luka Doncic are the Lakers’ best players, Reaves’ contributions are extremely important for a deep postseason run.
Spencer believes his younger brother has done a good job of forming excellent chemistry with the duo ahead of the postseason.
“It’s awesome to see. Luka and LeBron are two of the best players in the league. I love the way that Austin has integrated super well with them both,” he said.
Moreover, the 29-year-old wants his brother to lift the illustrious Larry O’Brien trophy at the end of the season.
“I don’t know if it’s a prediction or a hope, but I hope they are winning the championship come June.”
This will be Austin’s third playoff run of his career, so is the Lakers star doing anything different?
“I don’t think so. I think he likes to keep it the same, no matter if it’s the regular season or playoffs,” Spencer said of his brother’s preparation.

While the Laker Nation wants to see championship banner No. 18 in the rafters, but it’s easier said than done a conference that is loaded with talented teams.
Among them, Spencer believes Shai Gilgeous-Alexander’s Oklahoma City Thunder are the favorites to win it all.
“I think the west is really tough overall. Not necessarily an easy opponent. OKC is definitely the favorite as of now.”
Spencer concluded the interview with a short message for his brother, stating: “I just want him to continue doing what he has been [doing]. Playing confidently and making the right plays.
“Hopefully, they play well together and make a deep run!”
Reaves averaged 20.2 points, 4.5 rebounds, and 4.8 assists per game during the regular season, and the Lakers will hope for more of the same from the talented guard.
