Stan Van Gundy had a lot to say about Draymond Green’s championship commitment and spoke about the kind of player he is.
Draymond Green is one of the most controversial players in the NBA. His actions on the court for the Golden State Warriors, combined with his off-court comments make him a polarizing figure.
Green recently sparked some discourse after claiming he, Stephen Curry, and Jimmy Butler, can lead the Warriors to an NBA championship this season.
Stephen Curry was quick to agree with Draymond Green, inviting the championship pressure. And Stephen A. Smith also loved hearing Green’s resolve.
But one former NBA coach has expressed his thoughts on Green’s promise and the kind of player he is for any team.

Stan Van Gundy spoke on a local San Francisco Radio show, Willard and Dibs, about Draymond Green’s recent championship comments.
While he had little to add about the Warriors’ chances, Van Gundy lavished Green with praise for his championship mentality. He added that Green is a player any NBA coach would love to have on their team.
“Let’s not focus first and foremost on what Draymond Green says, but what he does.
“Virtually any coach in the league would welcome having him. Going out and expressing confidence in his team, that’s a good thing.”
Green’s comments may not be accurate in terms of a championship prediction. But it is exactly what coaches and fans want to hear from a player.
Especially for a team like the Golden State Warriors, who have such a rich championship history over the last decade.

All the talk and hype from Draymond Green is great. But now he must help turn those words to action. The Warriors are currently 10th in the West with a 28-27 record.
They have done well since acquiring Jimmy Butler, going 3-1 in their last four games. But the Warriors must continue racking up wins right now.
To give themselves the best chance of winning a championship, the Warriors must win at least 17 of their remaining 26 games.
This will allow them to earn a higher play-in seed, or even make a push for the top six guaranteed playoff spots if they are lucky.
Winning a championship from the play-in tournament isn’t easy. The Miami Heat came the closest to doing so in 2023, led by Jimmy Butler. Butler will want to avoid taking the tough road to the NBA Finals once again.
