Steph Curry ‘has one major concern over Warriors trading for Jimmy Butler’, Steve Kerr concurs

The Jimmy Butler trade noise continues to grow with the Miami Heat man almost certainly finding himself with a new team come the trade deadline.

Butler has been suspended indefinitely by the Heat for leaving practice early after finding out he would not play against the Orlando Magic.

Bam Adebayo is currently stepping up and leading by example in Miami as Butler drops hints about his next NBA side.

While the Phoenix Suns still appear to be a strong candidate the Golden State Warriors are back in the hunt, however, Steph Curry and Steve Kerr are reportedly said to have concerns over the star.

Many have been critical of the Butler’s attitude in recent weeks and months including Dwight Howard who said he was ‘making a mockery of himself.’

The Warriors were in for the 35-year-old earlier in the trade window but their interest seemed to cool, especially after Curry urged the team not to make rash trade decisions.

While Bill Simmons has highlighted the Warriors as the ‘only team desperate enough’ to trade for Butler, it appears Curry has his concerns over Butler.

Speaking on the Kevin O’Connor show, the host explained how sources have told him that Curry has one major worry about a potential Butler arrival.

He said: “My league sources stay Stephen Curry specifically has concerns about Jimmy Butler’s fit in the Warriors locker room and Steve Kerr shares those feelings.

“So Golden State’s indecision about trading for Butler seems to be largely tied to Steph and Kerr’s worries about the personality fit there.”

With Curry still being the main man in Golden State his wishes will likely be seriously considered before bringing in Butler.

The last thing the franchise wants is an unhappy Curry, a player who has been pivotal to the team’s success in the last decade. However, the superstar could clearly do with a number two at the Warriors.

Curry has been immensely loyal to the Warriors and with his playing years dwindling it would make very little sense to upset a team legend this late in their career.

Kevin O’Connor explained how if the Warriors did not move for Butler they could look to bring in a major star in the offseason.

He said: “It should surprise nobody if the Warriors just end up holding on to their pieces, waiting until the summer, hoping Kevin Durant want to head back to the Bay Area or some other star wants to go there and they bypass the chance to get Jimmy Butler.”

Durant has been linked with a trade away from Phoenix with the Suns in a real battle in the Western Conference to try and secure a playoff spot.

A return for the man who won two NBA Championships with the Warriors would hardly be a surprise down the road.
