Golden State Warriors superstar Stephen Curry dominated in his first-ever Olympic appearance in 2024.
Team USA had a magnificent roster at the 2024 Paris Olympics. For starters, it was Golden State Warriors superstar Stephen Curry’s first-ever run in the Olympics.
Along with Curry, Team USA also had the likes of LeBron James and Kevin Durant on the roster. While KD and LeBron had already proved their worth in the Olympics, there was still a doubt over how Curry would play.
Well, the Baby-Faced Assassin beat all expectations as he spearheaded Team USA’s scoring, including the gold medal game vs France.
Although Team USA was unbeaten during the Paris Olympics, facing France was no small deal for a chance to win the gold medal.
After all, France had the likes of Victor Wembanyama, Rudy Gobert, and Guerschon Yabusele.
Despite Team USA being stacked, it was none other than Steph Curry who made the French national team helpless in the final game of the Olympics.
“I remember, I felt like every shot he was taking it was gonna be short for some reason. But then, when he hit that two with the two defenders, I was like ‘Oh, s___. He’s on,” Yabusele said on the Roommates Show.
He added: “Let’s just take a time out or something. Somebody foul him. Let’s just try to figure out something. We’ve got to break his rhythm. It’s impossible.”
For context, Curry finished the game with 24 points, 1 rebound, and 5 assists. However, the highlight of Steph’s performance was nailing eight three-pointers.
Considering the 2024 Olympics took place in France, most expected the home team to have an advantage during the gold medal game.
However, Yabusele revealed that Team France felt like an away team for the first time in the competition when they took on Team USA for a shot at winning the gold medal.
“The whole gym was Team USA. We got to talk about it. It was crazy… It’s the first game we play in Paris that we feel like ‘Okay, they have more fans than us,’” Yabusele continued.
“At the time when Curry was hitting those shots, they were screaming. It was crazy,” the New York Knicks star concluded.
It was likely the first and last time fans saw Curry in Team USA colors during the Olympics. After all, Curry is already 37 years old.
