Stephen Curry injury update and when Golden State Warriors star could return

Stephen Curry’s woes continue as the Golden State Warriors superstar suffers an injury after a rough start to the season.

For years, Stephen Curry has carried the Warriors on his shoulders. Sure, the Baby-Faced Assassin has had help over the years, but he has remained the heart and soul of the team.

However, it feels like Steph is undoubtedly heading towards the twilight years of his NBA career. The 36-year-old was already struggling to perform well when he picked up an ankle injury against the Los Angeles Clippers.

Curry is undoubtedly one of the greatest basketball players to ever play in the NBA. However, many wonder if he could have secured a higher place in all-time debates if it weren’t for a long history of ankle injuries.

During the first few years of his career, Steph struggled with several ankle injuries. Since then, the 4x NBA champion has managed to stay relatively fit, but he is facing the same problem again. Per NBA insider Shams Charania, Curry suffered a left peroneal strain.

It’s confirmed that Curry will be re-evaluated on Friday, which means he will be sidelined for both games vs. the New Orleans Pelicans. As far as the severity of his injury is concerned, if it’s a grade 1 sprain, he will be out of action for one to two weeks.

On the other hand, if it’s a grade 2 sprain, Curry could miss three to six weeks. Considering the Dubs heavily rely on Steph, it could lead to a bad start to the regular season. Right now, the Warriors flaunt a 2-1 record as they hold the eighth seed in the Western Conference.

Following Curry’s ankle sprain, the Warriors suffered a 112-104 loss at the hands of the Clippers. After the game, head coach Steve Kerr was asked about the seriousness of his top player’s injury. Fortunately, Kerr had a positive response to it.

“He’s doing okay,” Kerr said. “He said it was, I think he used the word mild or moderate. He’s obviously sprained that ankle multiple times before, so he doesn’t think it’s too bad.”

However, Kerr did mention that the training staff will provide a better update by the end of the week. If Curry doesn’t heal in time, the Warriors will most likely rely on Buddy Hield’s shooting skills to help them cruise past a few games in the coming weeks.
