Stephen Curry’s reaction after winning 2022 Finals MVP said everything about the Warriors’ success

Stephen Curry’s Golden State Warriors are the most successful team in the NBA over the last decade.

On June 16, 2022, the Warriors were crowned the NBA champions for the seventh time following a 4-2 series win over the Boston Celtics.

The 2022 title meant a lot to the Dubs, especially superstar Stephen Curry. After all, Curry finally won the NBA Finals MVP, a trophy he had chased throughout his career.

For years, Curry had been tormented over not winning the NBA Finals MVP during the Warriors’ three championship runs in 2015, 2017, and 2018.

When he finally added that trophy to his cabinet, it was only natural for the media to ask the Baby-Faced Assassin’s thoughts on it. However, the Warriors superstar was visibly annoyed by the question.

Forget that question. Why did you start with that question? We’ve got four championships. God is great, the ability to be on this stage and play with amazing teammates against a great Boston Celtics team that gave us everything to try to get to the finish line,” Curry said in the postgame interview in 2022.

Instead, Curry’s focus was on proving the Warriors’ critics wrong as the organization was called out for their lack of postseason success following Kevin Durant’s departure in 2019.

“This one hits differently for sure, just knowing what the last three years have meant, what it’s been like from injuries to changing of the guard in the roster,” Curry continued.

“Wiggs [Andrew Wiggins] coming through, our young guys carrying the belief that we could get back to this stage and win, even if it didn’t make sense to anybody when we said it, all that stuff matters,” he added.

The trio of Klay Thompson, Draymond Green, and Andre Iguodala had been together with Steph throughout his rise to stardom in the league.

Curry went out of his way to acknowledge what a fourth ring meant to him and the three stars during the postgame interview after the 2022 NBA Finals.

“And now we got four championships. Me, Dray, Klay, and Andre, we finally got that bad boy. It’s special. It’s special,” Curry stated.

Again, Curry was unbothered by him netting the 2022 NBA Finals MVP as he shared his plans after defeating the Celtics in an intense series.

He concluded: “Just all the work that went into it, the faith and belief, and everybody in that locker room that’s getting to spray champagne around the locker room, everybody mattered in that process. So I’m just proud of everybody.”

Curry’s unselfish answer was a reminder of how the Warriors were extremely successful from 2015 to 2022, winning four titles in the process.

For now, the 2022 NBA Championship remains the last ring that Curry won as the Warriors have struggled to play well in the playoffs since then. It will be interesting to see if Curry and co. lift another trophy next season.
