Golden State Warriors head coach Steve Kerr explains how Stephen Curry played in his return to the team.
The Golden State Warriors have multiple players who can be the best player on the court on any given night, such as Jimmy Butler and Draymond Green.
However, Stephen Curry is undoubtedly the player who makes all the cogs in the machine click. It was evident during Curry’s short absence due to a tailbone injury.
The Warriors were handed back-to-back by the Atlanta Hawks and the Miami Heat amid Curry’s injury. Steph helped the Dubs snap their losing streak against the New Orleans Pelicans.
The Baby-Faced Assassin finished with 23 points, 4 rebounds, 6 assists, and 3 steals during his comeback against the Pelicans.
Head coach Steve Kerr reacted to the 11x NBA All-Star’s performance during the postgame conference.
Kerr said: “I thought he looked great. He was moving really well and took care of the ball. I thought Steph played an excellent game.”
The biggest criticism of Curry’s return was his lackluster shooting display from the floor as he shot just 33.3% from the field.
“He missed his last five or six threes, so the numbers don’t look great, but he looked like himself, and I thought the week off did him a lot of good,” Kerr defended Curry’s off-shooting night.
Curry suffered the tailbone injury against the Toronto Raptors after taking a hard fall to the floor. The 37-year-old compared to a similar injury he suffered in 2021 where he had a hairline fracture.
“It just reminded me of 2021 when I fell into the stairs in Houston. Thankfully, I didn’t break anything or have any bone damage.
“I’ll feel it for a while, but I can play, and I can’t make it worse as long as I don’t land on it again.”
As far as his current health is concerned, Steph assured fans of not facing any lingering ramifications this season.
“A week off is great in one aspect because you’re rested. But the timing, the endurance of getting through your regular minutes, that was a little bit of a challenge.
“Down the stretch, just trying to manage the game and not do anything crazy.”
The Warriors are now 42-31, tied with the Los Angeles Clippers, as they are currently the seventh seed in the Western Conference.
