Steve Kerr says Stephen Curry ‘never’ thinks about what held back his own career, ‘I love that’

Steve Kerr believes Stephen Curry is selfless to a fault, but appreciates his commitment to the team.

Stephen Curry is one of the greatest players in NBA history. More than his long list of accomplishments, it’s Curry’s impact on the game that earns him a spot in the pantheon of greats.

With the Golden State Warriors, Curry ushered in the three-point era in the NBA. His excellent range from beyond the arc showed the rest of the league that a perimeter-based offense could lead to championship success.

The three-point shot is the weapon of choice in the NBA. So much so that legends like Carmelo Anthony and DeMar DeRozan warned young players against becoming too reliant on the shot.

His shooting is so strong that Curry was glad to go 0-9 in an NBA Finals game. At the end of the day, for all his gifts, Curry’s biggest priority is winning.

And for that, he will take and miss as many shots as needed. This is something that Steve Kerr admires about him a lot.

Steve Kerr spoke on the Glue Guys podcast recently for an extended interview. When discussing the greatness of Stephen Curry, Kerr couldn’t stop gushing about his star player.

Comparing Curry to himself, given their roles as the lead shooters on teams, Kerr mentioned that Curry doesn’t hesitate to shoot the ball like he did during his playing career.

“I ground myself into a pulp with the work, and just like living and dying on every shot, every game, I did not handle the full 82 very well, you know, one bad game, and I’m like, losing sleep.

“That’s kind of always been, you know, the way I’ve been built.

“I think for me, there was just a point in my career where I realized I just needed to let go, and it took a long time, and eventually got there, but, you know, it’s a difficult thing to do.

“It’s one of the reasons I love Steph Curry so much, is that he never has that problem. You know, he lets it rip.

“He lets it rip every time, and never thinks about repercussions, and I spent way too much time doing that.”

So far, the Golden State Warriors haven’t made big moves in the offseason. The Warriors haven’t signed any free agents or made any big trades.

The Warriors are waiting for Jonathan Kuminga’s future to be resolved. But even with that situation being sorted, the Warriors need to make some big signings.

While Stephen Curry is an excellent shooter, the same cannot be said for anyone else on their roster. This is a big problem for them.

Without Curry on the court, the Warriors practically don’t have any spacing. Having no spacing in the modern NBA is a blow that few teams can recover from.
