Trey Jemison makes statement on LA Lakers mentality, his record is absolutely perfect

Trey Jemison made a contribution from the bench as the Los Angeles Lakers defeated city rivals the Los Angeles Clippers.

Of all the additions to the LA Lakers roster in 2025, Trey Jemison has been the most low-key. But he certainly has a role to play.

The Lakers signed Jemison in early January after he was waived by the New Orleans Pelicans, adding a little depth to the roster at center. He has been playing on a two-way contract.

Jemison is built like Dwight Howard, and while he lacks some of his skill, he will never be found short on effort.

The Lakers were up against it facing the Clippers on the second night of a back to back, and had to deal without Rui Hachimura, who had injury.

Austin Reaves also sustained a problem, playing only nine minutes, meaning the Lakers really had to dig in.

Luka Doncic and LeBron James led the way in the 106-102 win, but it could not have been achieved without the contribution from the bench.

Speaking post-game, Jemison told reporters: “If you want this win, you have to come fight us. Literally fight us.”

Jemison played his most minutes yet for the Lakers in the win, 22 in total, scoring five points and adding six rebounds.

LA Lakers fans have been impressed with Trey Jemison, who is emerging as a superior option to Alex Len. And there is good reason to have confidence in him.

Trey Jemison is 10-0 in games played since joining the LA Lakers. While his minutes have been limited, the win over the Clippers showed he can play a more substantial role too.

The 25-year-old is an effective closer for the Lakers. He is physical, likes to get amongst it, and his statement on welcoming a ‘fight’ can often be taken literally.

Role players are just as important on championship teams as superstars, and right now Jemison is carving out his spot, and might be a little bit of a lucky charm too.
