Marco Tulio is quickly earning a reputation for putting on highly entertaining fights with his latest coming in a vicious knockout delivered at UFC 314.
The Brazilian had a battle on his hands with Tresean Gore but a head kick nearly ended the fight after Tulio blasted his opponent with the shot that probably would have finished most fighters. Instead, Gore kept holding on until he got back to his feet but Tulio wasted no time putting him down again with a beautifully timed straight punch.
Once Gore hit the canvas, referee Marc Goddard rushed in to save him from further harm with the end coming at 3:16 in the second round.
It was a very impressive showing for Tulio but even more amazing is that he spent the majority of the fight throwing bombs with a broken right hand.
“The first round, when I charged at him, [I broke the hand],” Tulio revealed afterwards. “This is my dream. I’ve seen this in my dreams. I have a lot more to show. There’s a guy who just fought … Marvin Vettori, I’m ready for him.”
Before he got to his callout, Tulio first had to deal with a game performance from Gore, who was dishing out almost as much punishment as he was absorbing through the first round. Unfortunately for Gore, his strikes just weren’t hurting Tulio as much so the Chute Boxe fighter kept coming back for more.
Once the fight moved into the second round, Tulio truly took over with a variety of strikes including the head kick that put Gore down. Miraculously, Gore survived but it was momentary success with Tulio putting him down again with the punch that ended the fight.
With the win, Tulio is now 2-0 in the UFC with a pair of knockouts and it’s likely he’ll find himself in a higher profile fight next time out after these kinds of back-to-back performances.
