Vitor Belfort vs. Wanderlei Silva ‘real’ boxing match rules, weight class revealed ahead of September fight

Spaten Fight Night has officially announced the Vitor Belfort vs. Wanderlei Silva boxing match as the headliner for their upcoming card on Sept. 27 in Sao Paulo, Brazil, and revealed additional details regarding the match.

Unlike the main event of the first show in 2024, which ended up being an exhibition boxing contest with no winners between Anderson Silva and Chael Sonnen, the promotion has assured that Belfort vs. Silva will be for real.

The UFC Hall of Famers collide wear 12 oz gloves in an eight-round match, with two-minute rounds with the fight contested at 205 pounds, Spaten announced Wednesday. The event airs live and free on Globo in Brazil.

“The Vitor Belfort and Wanderlei Silva rivalry is one of the biggest in the martial arts world, a rematch that has never happened, so we decided to make it real in the second edition of Spaten Fight Night,” Spaten marketing director Cinthia Klumpp stated in a release.

Silva is making his boxing debut that night, seven years removed from his most recent MMA bout in Bellator. Belfort competed twice in boxing since parting ways with the UFC, defeating Evander Holyfield and Ronaldo “Jacare” Souza.

Spaten Fight Night has yet to announce additional bouts to the card. The first edition featured the MMA debut of jiu-jitsu legend — and future LFA bantamweight champion — Bia Mesquita, as well as a boxing showdown between Olympians Hebert Conceicao and Esquiva Falcao.
