Walt Frazier says New York Knicks star who matched his 53-year old achievement is ‘the heart of this team…’

Walt Frazier was in awe of one New York Knicks star who did something only he had since 1972.

The New York Knicks are heading to the Eastern Conference Finals for the first time since 2000. The Knicks defeated the Boston Celtics in a blowout Game 6 win.

Fans are now eagerly awaiting the Knicks facing the Pacers in the Eastern Conference Finals, a rematch not only of their series last year, but also the 1999 and 2000 Eastern Conference Finals.

It was a brilliant showing from the Knicks, who never really let the Celtics get going. Several players stepped up and delivered great performances.

But Knicks legend Walt ‘Clyde’ Frazier was impressed by one star who he felt played like a warrior. And this Knicks player matched an achievement of Frazier’s from 1972.

Tonight, Josh Hart recorded a triple-double for the Knicks, with 10 points, 11 rebounds, and 11 assists. He became the first Knicks star to record a triple-double in the playoffs since Walt Frazier.

Frazier was courtside for Game 6 and witnessed this performance. When talking to Monica McNutt about Josh Hart, Frazier could not have been kinder to the former Villanova forward.

“He’s the heart of this team. I saw the black eye, but he wasn’t daunted by that. The good rebounding. He grows on you. You watch him, he just does whatever it takes to win a game.”

“He doesn’t worry about the points. In the regular season, he broke my record too… He is the heart of this team.”

Josh Hart isn’t the player who puts up big numbers on the score sheet. But he does the gritty, tough work for the squad that goes unnoticed by statisticians.

Bernard King applauded Hart as the enforcer of this Knicks squad. And the way he has stepped up in the playoffs has made him a fan favorite.

Tom Thibodeau learned from his mistakes regarding Josh Hart from the first round. He understands that Hart is crucial to the way this Knicks side plays.

Heading into the Eastern Conference Finals, the Knicks will be relying on Hart to provide them with a physical edge against the Indiana Pacers.
