Any Indiana Pacers fans worried about their players becoming complacent after their Game 1 win will love what Pascal Siakam said to Tyrese Haliburton.
The hunger the Pacers have shown in the NBA playoffs has been nothing short of otherworldly. While Siakam and Haliburton are the two names that draw the most eyes, it’s been a team effort from Indiana.
Tyrese Haliburton made the game-winning shot yet again, but it was Andrew Nembhard and Myles Turner’s incredible shot-making that kept the Pacers in the game.
This win marks the Pacers’ fifth comeback after being down by 15 or more points in the NBA playoffs. For anyone still doubting Haliburton and the Pacers, the proof is getting harder to ignore.
But these players know that the series is only just getting started. And if what Pascal Siakam said is true, then the Pacers can be even more dangerous in these NBA Finals.
Pascal Siakam and Tyrese Haliburton were spotted celebrating the Pacers’ Game 1 win over the Oklahoma City Thunder.
While Tyrese told Siakam to continue being hungry against the Thunder, the Cameroonian forward claimed the Pacers should have been better on the night.
Tyrese Haliburton: “Hell yeah, we did our job! Let’s get greedy, man. We got so much to work on.”
Pascal Siakam: “We didn’t even play well.”
This is an encouraging sign from the two Pacers stars. The most successful players and teams are never truly satisfied, no matter how things are going.
The fact that the Pacers want to get even better will encourage their fans, while also striking fear in the hearts of Thunder fans.
Outside of their first-round series with the Milwaukee Bucks, the Indiana Pacers have been underdogs in every playoff series they’ve played in so far.
No one expected them to topple the Cavaliers, who were the second-best team in the NBA. But they made quick work of them, defeating them in five games to advance.
And while they had beaten the New York Knicks in last year’s playoffs, many felt that was due to the injury crisis. But once again, the Pacers rose to the challenge and vanquished their rivals.
The Thunder are a completely different story. They have ticked all the boxes that an NBA championship-level team should. But tonight reminded fans that they’re not unbeatable.
